If you have never taken a Zumba Fitness class in Durango Colorado before, you probably have some questions, or may be harboring a few anxieties about coming to your first class. I am here to help you!

The classes move fast and I don't stop too much during class, so it's best to come early or stay afterwards if you have a lot of questions for me. Or feel free to email me, text me, call me or message me on my Facebook page.

But here's the thing... I often get the same questions from my new Zumba students. So, I thought it might be helpful to try to anticipate your questions and just provide the answers before you even ask them!
So here are some answers to some of the most common questions I get from my first-timers. :)

What should I bring to (or have available for) class?
Definitely a bottle of water and perhaps a small towel. Some people like to bring a fresh shirt to change into after class so you don't have to drive home sweaty, but that's really up to you. Wear gym shoes with as flat a sole as possible and comfortable, cool clothing that is easy to move around in (tshirt/tank top, shorts, leggings etc).

What kind of music do you play?
I use a wide variety of music in my classes. Zumba is supposed to be mostly Latin-based, but also offer a variety of other international and world rhythms, and I am faithful to that. I love Latin music! You will never find mostly pop or hip hop music in MY class. To get an idea of some of my music, you might want to watch some of my routines on my YouTube channel here. We rock it out to tunes and dance rhythms from around the world! But occasionally, you will also hear one of those familiar tunes from your younger years too.

What if I can't dance? What if I have a lot of weight to lose? What if I feel nervous about attending?
Then my class is the one for you! Beginners will feel at ease but more experienced dancers will also be challenged. This is a judgement free zone where your only "competition" is yourself. In my class, there are two rules: 1) Do what you can do, and work up to to the rest! and 2) If you are moving and smiling, you are doing it right! And remember... "There are no mistakes in Zumba, only unintended solos!" (I do one of those solos at least once per class, so you certainly can do them too!) And remember... in my virtual classes... neither I or any of the other students can even see you! 😃

What if I don't know the steps or can't do those hip shaking movements?
That's perfectly OK! I tell everyone that the first time I went to class I loved the music and the party atmosphere, but thought I'd never really be able to move the way "those ladies" up front did. But guess what? After a few weeks, I was keeping up with them just fine and I DID learn to let loose. Give yourself time... you will pick it up, if you can just learn to relax into the music. And if you don't... who cares? As long as you're having fun & moving your body, that's all that really matters!

Are children allowed?
My preference is no little children in class, but I am open to discussion for special cases. Just talk to me about it! If you do bring your kids, though, you are responsible for supervising them during the class. I will allow children age 7 or older in class, with prior permission, provided they are going to dance.

Do you take debit/credit cards?
Yes.

Do you do private parties?
Yes! I love doing fundraisers, Girls' Night out, Zumba® After Work, race warm ups, and more. Email or text me for pricing!
